SCLL 9/10 Softball lost to Glenwood 3-1 tonight in a thrilling pitcher's duel, sending Glenwood to the championship game. Gracie Harlow pitched 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 1 hit, 4 BB's, and 10 K's!! Glenwood's pitcher allowed 1 run on 1 hit, 2 BB's, and 13 K's, and allowed only 3 baserunners. The pitching stats were pretty similar. However, the deciding factor came down to errors: SCLL - 5, GWLL - 0.

Kylie Lester had a great catch in deep left field, Gracie Harlow made 4 defensive plays from the pitcher's mound, but the rest of the field didn't fare so well, allowing a few baserunners with errors that eventually scored. Our only offense came in the 5th when Kailey Caldwell walked, then Hailey Fraidenburg laid down a perfect bunt which moved Kailey to 3rd, who eventually scored on a passed ball. SCLL threatened in the bottom of the 6th when Madison Scull led off with a single. Kaitlyn Kutch then walked, and our potential winning run came to the plate with 1 out! Unfortunately, we couldn't pull out the upset… but we gave it a great shot!

SCLL plays Battle Ground Tuesday, 5:30pm at Glenwood (Loser out). Winner plays Glenwood in the Championship Game on Wednesday. Superfly Aarhus reporting.

Saturday, June 27

SCLL Softball 9-10 6, Ridgefield 1
4pm, Glenwood Star Rental Field

SCLL 9/10 Softball defeated Ridgefield 6-1 in their tournament opener today.

It was a tense pitcher's duel, with the score 2-1 after 3 complete innings. Gracie Harlow went the distance on the mound, allowing 1 run on 3 hits, 2 walks, and 12 K's in 6 full innings!!! She was a machine in the 90+ degree heat. Ridgefield's pitcher struck out 12 as well, but SCLL was able to capitalize on a few walks and 3 perfectly timed hits in the last half of the game as the fatigue set in. SCLL's defense looked great! Madison Scull recorded an unassisted double-play, Mercedes McKnight threw out a runner from right field trying to stretch a single into a double, and Lauren Harris / Kailey Caldwell each had a couple close tag-outs at home plate.

Offensively, Kaitlyn Kutch scored twice, while Kailey Caldwell, Kylie Lester, and Makenna Kulju did most of the damage at the plate, providing 3 hits & 4 RBI's between the 3 of them.

SCLL plays Monday, 5:30pm at GWLL Star Rental field vs. the winner of Sunday's (GWLL vs. Lewis River) 1pm game. Go CREEK!!!

The SCLL Juniors Softball All-Star team kicked off the 2015 season on Sunday, June 21st at Glenwood Little League. The girls split an EXCITING double-header against LaCenter to determine who would advance to State. The series is a best 2 out of 3, so the deciding "IF" game will be played Tuesday, June 23rd at 5:30pm at GWLL.

In the first game of the series, our first year pitcher Dakota Cardiel pitched 7 complete innings in the 10-7 loss, striking out 6 and giving up 6 hits. SCLL had their chances late in the game, but we couldn't seal the deal in the closing innings. The girls fought hard, but it wasn't meant to be.

In the 2nd game, Dakota Cardiel went the distance again - striking out 5 and giving up 6 hits. SCLL found themselves down 4-1 in the top of the 5th inning, and it wasn't looking good for the Creek. SCLL was able to scrape together 2 runs to make the score 4-3 after 5 complete innings. The Creek then unloaded a barrage of hits in the top of the sixth inning scoring an amazing 7 runs and blasting the game wide open! Madison Vanek hit a screamer down the 3rd base line scoring 2 runners, and moments later Katy Schmitt matched it with a double to right center field scoring 2 more. Keelan Memory finished it off with a sharply hit sacrifice grounder with bases loaded to score a run as well. LaCenter threatened in the bottom of the sixth, but with runners at 2nd & 3rd, Layne Connor made a diving catch at 2nd base to end the inning and keep the score 10-4 going into the final inning. Unfortunately, LaCenter started the bottom of the 7th with a single, single, double, hit batter, double, single, and suddenly, the score was 10-8 with runners at 2nd & 3rd, with the tying run coming to the plate! After an infield fly, the next batter hit a screaming line drive to the short stop (Breann Eisenbarth) who made a miraculous diving catch to save the game. Two outs! The next pitch was a passed ball, and the runner at 3rd base scored. 10-9, with a runner at 3rd. The next pitch was hit between the 1st/2nd base gap, a potential game tying hit, but Layne Connor scooped it up and made the out at 1st. Game over! Creek wins 10-9!!!

The tie-breaking "IF" game is being played Tuesday, 5:30pm at Glenwood Little League. Come out and cheer for our Junior Softball team as they try to make it to State!
