Salmon Creek Little League

Minor AA Baseball Division Info - League Age 8

AA Division (Age 8)

Division: League age 8-year-olds play in our AA division. 8-year-olds can also play in our Single-A division or in rare instances, AAA, all pending review and approval by the safety committee. Please see the age chart above or on our home page to determine your player's league age as the league age is often different than your player's actual age during the season.

Try-outs: All players wanting to play in our AA division are required to participate in a tryout for the safety committee and coaches. Try-outs take place in early February. Details can be found on our website in late January. Players who do not attend the try-out will need to complete a safety evaluation at the convenience of our safety officer before they can be placed on a team. All players will be placed on a team. Email your AA Player Agent with any questions or concerns.

Buddy Requests: There are no buddy requests in the AA division as teams are built through a draft.

Teams: Players will be selected to teams through a draft process. Players who do not attend the try-out will need to complete a safety evaluation at the convenience of our safety officer before they can be placed on a team. Your child will be placed on a team by mid-February. Please email your Player Agent if you have not heard from a coach by late February.

Practices: Practices typically begin in late February. Practices are generally held two to three times a week, once or twice on a weekday and once on Saturday. It is up to your coach to decide how many practices teams will hold once the games begin. You should expect your child to practice at least once during the week after games begin.

Games: Games will usually begin after Opening Ceremony in March. Games are played twice a week, usually once on a weekday and once on Saturday. Games generally last about 1½ - 2 hours.

Uniform: The League provides a jersey and hat. Your coach will let you know their preference for game-day pants, socks and belt.

Equipment: Players in our AA division will need a baseball glove/mitt. They will also need to wear cleats as well as an athletic supporter and cup. Personal helmets are encouraged. Shorts are not allowed.

Opening Day: SCLL will celebrate our opening day in early March. See the Salmon Creek web page for times and details. Players should show up in uniform and be ready to play. Team and individual pictures are usually taken on opening day. All players, even those not purchasing photos, are asked to participate in the team photo.

Volunteers: Our league is only as good as our volunteers and we always need more! Please consider coaching, being a team parent, or helping in any way you can. Please contact one of the people listed below if you are interested.
