Salmon Creek Little League

Minor AAA Baseball Division Info - League Age 9 & 10

AAA Division (Age 9 & 10)

Welcome to Salmon Creek Little League! We hope you and your child have an enjoyable season. To help you get started, we have compiled the following information:

Division: It is our intention that league age 9 and 10 year-olds play in our AAA division. Some 9 year-olds who are not drafted may play in our AA division. Players league age 9 will be given preference over any league age 8-year-olds wishing to play up in the AAA division. Divisional placement will be based on age and on players being drafted - i.e. players drafted by a AAA team will play in the AAA division. The most skilled 10 year olds may be drafted into the major division. See the majors information page for more information on this. Please see the age chart above or on our home page to determine your player's league age as the league age is often different than your players actual age during the season. If you do have any concerns about the division your child plays in, please contact the player agent listed below prior to tryouts.

Try-outs: All 9 and 10 year-olds will need to try out. See the Calendar page (http://salmoncreekll.com/calendar) for time, date, and location of try outs. All players will be drafted or placed on a team. If your 10 year-old wishes to try-out for a major team, they will need to attend both the AAA and the Majors division try-out sessions.

Draft: All 9 and 10 year-olds are drafted onto teams by the coaches, thus parents cannot request a particular coach at the AAA level. For siblings in the same division, parents can request that they be drafted onto the same team ("brother/sister-option") and we will accomodate this request.

Teams: Your child will be drafted onto a team by mid February. Please contact us (see below) if you have not heard from a coach by February 17th.

Practices: Practices can begin 30 days before opening day. Before the season starts, practices are generally held two or three times a week - generally once or twice on a weekday and once on Saturday. It is up to your coach to decide how many practices teams will hold once the games begin. You should expect your child to practice at least once or twice/week during season play.

Games: Games will begin the week of March 10th (see Calendar for dates). Games are played twice a week - usually once on a weekday and once on Saturday. Games generally last about 2 hours. Players should be at the field one half hour before the game starts.

Uniform: The League provides the hat and Jersey. Your coach will let you know what color sock, belt, undershirt and pants to buy.

Equipment: Your 9 or 10 year-old will need a baseball glove/mitt and baseball cleats. Personal bats are optional, but must meet little league specifications (see LL rule book). Athletic supporters and cups are required. Personal helmets are encouraged. Shorts are not allowed.

Opening Day: SCLL will celebrate our opening day in March. See the Salmon Creek web page for times and details. Players should show up in uniform and be ready to play. Check the calendar for the picture date.

Volunteers: Our league is only as good as our volunteers and we always need more! Please consider coaching, being a team parent, scorekeeping games, doing field maintenance or helping with the annual auction. Please contact one of the people listed below if you are interested.
